Greetings Drummers and Dancers --

The announcement of the creation of a new drum circle in Pawtucket RI, with the first gathering being on Friday, February 6th. This circle will continue to be held on a monthly basis on the 1st Friday - hence the name "First Fridays".

This gathering is open to anyone who wants to participate in a "lightly facilitated" freestyle drum circle that will also be open to dancers as well - please bring your zills!

The event is being hosted at the World Dance & Music Center at 925 Central Avenue, 2nd floor, in Pawtucket Rhode Island.

The Center is operated by professional belly dance instructor Lola and master drummer George Rizk. Please visit their website and click on their YouTube video sample on the "Bellydance" page to see Lola and George in performance.

For those people interested in receiving a group lesson from George in basic Middle Eastern drumming technique, there will be an instructional session from 6:45pm to 7:15pm. The charge for this lesson is $5. Your own drum is required for the lesson.

From 7:30pm until around 9:30pm, the drum circle will take place, with Dave Curry along with George, providing the facilitation to get the rhythms rolling. This circle welcomes everyone, regardless of skill level. In addition to playing Middle Eastern rhythms, we'll also include some African and other tribal beats to keep it interesting. The cost for the drum circle is $5. Please bring your own drum if you have one, but there will be some drums available for borrowing.
