Raquy and the Cavemen return to the Blackstone River Theatre! This time they are joined by the Tribal dance duo Kassar for a day of music, drum and dance. Raquy and the Cavemen, a nationally touring world fusion act, will bring their high energy percussion laden performance back to Rhode Island.
Raquy Danziger is a classically trained musician from childhood. Raquy fell in love with Middle Eastern music as a young adult and dedicated herself to learning the dumbek. She had the pleasure of traveling all over the world accompanying some of the greatest Middle Eastern music masters. Recently, Raquy has found her own voice as a soloist, group leader and composer. She and Liron Peled formed Raquy and the Cavemen, in which she also plays the Persian kemenche, a bowed, violin-like instrument.
Raquy's infectious enthusiasm for Middle Eastern music has made her a popular teacher of Middle Eastern drumming, instigating a wave of "Dumbek Fever" across America.

Kassar - Melanie and Karin began their history together as a collaboration for a New Jersey Renaissance Kingdom performance. From there, the duo Kassar was born. They have been dancing together as Kassar for the past eight years, all the while studying with numerous instructors of the tribal persuasion. Between them, they also bring a background rich in formal ballet training, West African dance, tango fusion and Indian dance technique. This has culminated in the development of their own unique, highly-acclaimed style of tribal bellydance. Kassar has since grown to both teach workshops and perform nationwide. They are extremely pleased and excited to be teaching their first workshop in Rhode Island!
